On November 14, 2012, Director Ernie Ingles was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal by Alberta Premier Alison Redford. This is a national honour in recognition of the significant contributions citizens from across Canada have made to their communities. As reported in the Â鶹ÊÓƵ's FOLIO Volume 50, Issue 7: "Vice-provost Ernie Ingles has spent his career expounding the virtues of libraries and collections to Canadians, and has been an active proponent in the use of technology to enhance collections. Before moving to the provost's office, Ingles spent a quarter century as the Â鶹ÊÓƵ's chief librarian and director of libraries, setting a course that has seen the Â鶹ÊÓƵ Libraries become Canada's second-largest research library system." SLIS congratulates Ernie on this most momentous honour!
