Mathew Diggle

A Consultant Clinical Microbiologist with over 25 years’ experience in acute diagnostic and reference services across the UK and Canada. Trained in Glasgow and London, he spent a decade in Scotland before moving to Nottingham, where he held senior NHS roles and supported research through the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR). Since 2019, he has served as a Clinical Microbiologist with the Provincial Laboratory (ProvLab) in Alberta, where he is the lead for provincial respiratory testing initiatives, he also directs the Clinical Microbiology Fellowship Program at the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ. His expertise also spans rapid molecular diagnostics, biodefence and complex infections. Dr. Diggle continues to be actively involved in research and is also the Deputy Editor-In-Chief of the Journal of Medical Microbiology, he’s passionate about global microbiology education and supporting the development of future pathology leaders. Outside his professional work, he is a dedicated family man, married with three children.
