Application Process
Eligibility:
- Registered at the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ in a Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada clinical residency OR eligible for conditional acceptance by applying in a sub-specialty Pediatric or Internal Medicine program, pre-CaRMs match results.
- In PGY2 year or later.
- Interested in taking a thesis-based graduate studies program.
- Have not had a remediation or are going into remediation.
Application Steps:
Step 1 - Letter of Intent
CIP Letter of Intent Form
To begin your application, you must complete and submit our letter of intent form to pgcip@ualberta.ca. The Letter of Intent is intended to introduce yourself and your research. It must be signed by your current program director as well as list your proposed research supervisor.
The Letter of Intent is due on September 30. Dr. McMurtry, Program Director, will review your letter before sending you the CIP application form, checklist and instructions.
Step 2 - Application
Once your letter of intent has been reviewed, you will receive the application form and CIP application checklist, which will help ensure that your application is complete.
Your application package will include the completed CIP application form, Canadian Common CV, reference assessments and university transcripts. This application form is directly pulled from the Canada Graduate Scholarships-Master's Program and therefore can be used to apply when completed.
The deadline for submission for the CIP application is October 31.
Step 3 - Acceptance
Application acceptance letters are usually issued in the first or second week of December of the year of application.
Applications submitted in 2025 will be eligible for a July 1, 2026 start date.
