Overseas Chapters

China

Beijing

An active group of alumni volunteers has been organizing events since 2003, with a formal chapter established in 2018. The Beijing Chapter hosts a variety of events, ranging from social gatherings to educational activities. There are approximately 400 U of A alumni in the region.


Hong Kong

Established in 1979, the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Alumni Association Hong Kong (UAAAHK) is our largest chapter outside of Canada, with 1,900 alumni. Led by over 15 dedicated volunteers, the UAAAHK organizes events celebrating alumni and U of A research. Activities include lunch-and-learns, family and sporting events, receptions, and socials. The chapter also partners with the Canadian Chamber of Commerce Hong Kong and takes part in All-Canadian University alumni events.


Shanghai

Active since the early 2000s and formally established in 2017, the Shanghai Chapter is led by a team of five volunteers. The chapter organizes three to four events annually, including lectures, business tours, and happy hour socials. There are over 700 alumni in the region.

Shanghai MFM/MBA Sub-Chapter

Formally established in 2021, this sub-chapter is home to alumni of the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ’s MFM and MBA programs in Shanghai, with a community of over 450 graduates. It offers professional networking events tailored specifically for MFM and MBA alumni.


Shenzhen

Shenzhen is home to the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ’s bilingual MFM and MBA programs. Of the 610 alumni in this region, 82% are graduates of these programs. This chapter is organized and led by the Alberta School of Business and supports professional development and community engagement.


England

London

Home to 400 alumni in the London area and more than 900 across the United Kingdom, this informal alumni network hosts ad-hoc events such as social get-togethers and educational sessions.


France

Paris

In 2023, a group of enthusiastic alumni began hosting regular meet-ups at local eateries and cafés. These events are promoted through the Paris alumni WhatsApp group and are open to all U of A graduates in the area.


Gulf States

GCC Chapter

This regional chapter brings together alumni from Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates, with a total of 350 alumni. The chapter stays connected through a dedicated WhatsApp group, promoting community and connection across the Gulf region.


Singapore

With over 380 alumni, the Singapore Chapter is led by a group of dedicated volunteers who plan ad-hoc events. The chapter also partners with the Canadian Alumni Network Singapore to co-host activities and connect graduates from Canadian universities.
